A Malaysian wedding in Bristol

Part I - The night before

View all 131 photos...

Some of the pictures I took during my 3 day stay at Bristol. Kak Inaz and Giri asked suhaimi and me to take their wedding photos. We're no professional, let alone taking wedding pictures. I remembered last time I attended a wedding, I just sat outside at the canopy with my father and talking to other men. Then we ate the lunch. Then we go home, that's it. This is the FIRST wedding that I was involved much during my young adult age (teenager era doesn't count lah, still childish melompat2 mah ). It felt, different. Then it hit me. Man, in years time I will attend more and more wedding, of my cousins, my friends, it feel so, old...hehehe, can switch back to kids kah?

Anyway we tried our best to accomplish the mission. We trained by taking picture of ourselves, taking pictures around the town, and browsing through internet (other fotopages obviously). No formal training whatsoever. At first i freaked out a bit, what happen if everything goes wrong? But then the bride and groom and their families comforted me and assures me that everything going to be fine. Glad I met these people! They really made me feel like their own family members and their closeness and warmth inspires me. THANK YOU for letting me be not just the photographer, but also a witness for this very special day and it will be in my memory always

p/s | I haven't put any tag yet for the photos and will do it from time to time (have to do other things as well). If you have any idea for nice tag, just give me a comment. You will help me greatly in saving my brain resources (ey?)

great weather, colourful wedding, full of warmth and emotions... great job safri! Sun 16-Apr-2006 09:12

Reflection

kekekekekekekekekke

Don't forget to look at your own reflection now and then in your life. And reflection of the surrounding. I'm not going to put the list of the things here. Not going to put the list of problem we have on this temporary world either. It's for you to think. How far can you think? How do you explain out-of-the-box thinking? How about things that still inside the box?How we handle it?

(safri is not bad-mood or anything...just randomly wonder about life...in general)

p/s - How big is the "box" anyway? Anybody care to answer?

salam matsap, thanks for dropping by again. so mana gamba anak kawan you tu? share la.. Sat 8-Apr-2006 05:25

Have you been to Stonehenge?

I never have the urge to visit this arrangement of rock. There's no geological reason plus we have to pay to get close (not to mention transportation). Oh well, looking from the crystal ball is good enough lah kan?

bro.. nak tanya lah.. berapa harga kos untuk 1 st flash yg kat bawah tuu aaa... minat lee... Thu 6-Apr-2006 13:28

luckly no cropping or other touch-up done with this picture...au-naturale!

but I do use cropping for a lot of my pictures no harm about that!

project "spot the paddington bear!"

the set-up
cepat dibuat senang diguna!
aim correctly at the target
View all 11 photos...
It's 2am in the morning and I couldn't sleep!

So i decided not to sleep and do something else...like updating my fp (sorry geng sekarang nih rasa mcm bodoh jek psl fotografi...satu bende amik pun tak best )...

subject | Paddington Bear (yg kene culik sbb cute sgt arituh...hehehe )
lighting | A wireless flash with DIY snoot
misc | tripod for flash, white surface (paper/bedsheet) for background, thick paper and rubber band for making snoot, white tissue and another rubber band to cover the built in flash

the "setting" for the photoshoot

It's just a simple set-up...so simple paddington bear himself laughing about it. The flash is controlled by the built in flash of my camera.

Snoot is not really common nor it's widely used (IMHO,but of course the higher up power photogs and professional familiar with these). It's quite expensive to buy and its purpose is only to direct the light from the flash to smaller area. For my 1-minute (cepat lagi dr mee maggi 2-minit ) DIY snoot...i just strap a reasonably thick dark -coloured paper with an elastic band to the flash, heheheh. Usually snoots become smaller towards the end (or so I believe). Point the flash towards the subject.

Now turn off all the lights (well, actually only the one that interfere with the setting). In my case the standby lamp from the flash and my camera focus light helped autofucos system to work, and careful about focusing correctly as it's very very dark (my case). Then shoot!

Uploaded to my laptop using Picasa2. No other post-proccessing done apart from cropping (using picasa2) and putting text (using Adobe Photoshop CS2) Some might say, why use the soo simple and basic Picasa2?well, it's the simplicity and some features that, (like basic exposure, crop, resize, export and a bit of white balance) which are, basic and simple but it does the job! and talking about loads and loads of pictures (from 2004 until now, with quite a mix of pictures)....Picasa2 is foulproof!

Other points to mention

No soft toys or animal or human harmed during this photosession
The paddington bear reminds me of marmalade...yum yum!
If, by any chance, any of you guys wondering what other cikai equipments I used in details...PM me, as I really really love to talk about technicalities (ilmu bukan byk pun, ciput jek)
entry ini gak utk suhaimi yg mintak aku update fp
skang dah pukul 5.16am waktu Leeds...so baik teruskan tak tido then amik gambar awal pagi!nantikan!

How wonderful life would be?

Oh dear how wonderful life would be?
With you still in my heart
Oh dear how wonderful life would be?
With you still in my dreams

On the stars in the sky we belong to stand by tears
Let the time pass me by I'm lonely as can be
Lovely rainbow in the sky we belong to stand by fears
It was just you and I, my aching despair

[Repeat twice]

using self-potrait because nobody around to be the model...

Hi Safri, thanks for visiting
But if the subject moves, push the ISO up so the pictures won't be blurred (I used A setting for all these pics)
ps: You're quite a broody guy, aye?
